Life is who you have, not what you have.
You do not have to be good.
People like to be well met
There is nothing more difficult to carry out . . then to initiate a new order of things
The person who fails the most wins.
I have written those out on cards for two workshops tomorrow I have tomorrow and because I spoke with Miss Efua just now (and texted with Miss Cinema earlier.)
I am at a school in Switzerland with the most breathtaking view I have ever seen.
It is beautiful and boring and horrible.
Thie kids are the children of oligarchs and worse. It is not so much a school as a holding pen for wealthy kids and, tomorrow, I am to speak to them about entrepreneurship.
Normally, speaking to kids (or anyone, really) is not much of a challenge. Though there may be minimal nutritionally value in it for the audience, for me, not much preparation is required.
But not this time. I have been perseverating for the last few days. Because they are so rich? So disengaged? So entitled in their demeanor? Because I am jealous? Because I know without some Alpha male show or a fancy slide deck they won’t even begin to pay attention?
Then Miss Cinema reminded me how damaged they are. And Miss Efua used the world healing.
So now instead of doing something “challenging” that forced them to expose their choices and get them out of their bubble, I will invite them into a conversation using these cards. It will probably bomb as much as anything else I might have done but at least I will be a little closer, I hope, to be teaching from the heart.
And entrepreneurship, I will tell them, is doing your thing in the service of the world.
