If you ever get into it with other YouTube commentators — and I want to urge you in the strongest possible terms not to get into it with YouTube commentators —you will learn that freedom is understood by the trolls there as if we all lived in a world of one.
Since you do not spend your time with YouTube commentators you probably already know that the world is occupied by more than one person, many billions in fact, including the several hundred millions who live in America.
Thus, while it might make perfect sense for you to be able to drive 200 miles an hour or have a gun if no one else was on the road or your island were deserted, that is not the reality of things.
Even a great driver or a great shooter drives and guns among others. Many others. Billions and millions.
The freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want is the least enlightened state of being a person can come to. It is less the anecdote to slavery and oppression and more their mirror.
Freedom that does not serve civilization, in other words, is meaningless.
Which is to say noble freedom, uplifting freedom, freedom the future might sing songs about comes with restraint.
Wonderful, Ted!
